welcome to my new blog

Welcome to my new blog! I am so happy to be here. Let me tall you a little about me first. I am an artist, the only thing I ever wanted to do since 3rd grade is make art. And I have tried and succeeded at many things over the years.

I was a fiber artist and some of you many know me for my art quilts, my figure series and my funky fun bags that I designed and sold the workshops for my cat sack and my lizzy the lizzard bag, just to name a few. Those workshops are still available in my shop to those who are looking for them.

But there comes a time in life when you feel the need for more. The drive to take on new challenges and invigorate your creative life. Well for me that meant a total change of careers. That can be a bit scary when you sit down and think about it. But once you find the right thing there is no looking back.

I had been looking for something new and feeling a bit frustrated. With a bit of coaxing from my daughter who was taking a jewelry class in college, I signed up for the next one at the art center. This was last summer. And I have to say that I found myself in that class. I had never considered jewelry making as an art I would be interested in making. I am not sure why, it just never crossed my mind. Did I mention I was not the jewelry type. I didnt ask for it for christmas or birthdays, I would rather have a tool or an art supply. So who would have thought that is where I would end up in my artistic endeavors.

I finished up that class and my first attempt at jewelry making is the paisley pendant below.

I never start small, that would be to easy! And for a first attempt I was pretty darn happy. I was also hungry for more. So I went home and sold off my fiberarts studio and used the money from that to supply my jewelry making studio.

There was a bit of hesitation, I’ll admit, but I knew what I wanted and didnt want to hold onto things just because, so off it all went. And I was thrilled at each new package of supplies that came in the mail. I now have a fully working jewelry studio in my home and I am excited to wake up every day and work on something new. Each day a new challenge, new things to learn and I love every minute of it.

It’s never to late to change careers. I did and I never look back. I draw on my previous skills and knowledge but forge on ahead as there are so many things I want to learn and develop higher skills at.

This blog will be where I can share with you this new journey, my jewelry as I finish it and offer it up in my Etsy shop, challenges as I take them on and basic creative stuff and even the jewelry of others whose work I admire. So I hope you will subscribe to this blog and come back and visit me often.
