Jean Haines Workshop was amazing

I had the pleasure of attending one of her workshops this past weekend in Long Island. It was a 2 day workshop full of lots of demonstrations, personal help, fun and laughter and a lesson in loosening up.
I love watercolors! They have so much dimension and watercolors with Jean was an amazing experience. She was so giving of all the information and inspiration that she could fit into this jam packed weekend. I met some wonderful people, spent an entire weekend immersed in painting and having fun.
That was the also the weekend of Hurricane Sandy. We made it off the island sunday night, as of last night I know Jean was still stuck on the island hoping to head home soon. This experience has not affected her desire to come back next year and do another workshop. Her happy personality is energizing and inspirational.
I cant wait to get back to work in my studio and finish up the paintings I started in class to see where all this takes me.
I ordered me her wonderful palette and some 300 lb paper, as it is a dream to paint on, and will be painting for the bin, as Jean so puts it! In her book she says if you have no outcomes attached to your painting process, like wishing you were the next big discovery, selling a fabulous painting, then you will not have any weight on your shoulders and the experience of discovery will be easier as you paint for the sheer delight of painting!
I highly recommend her books, dvds ( i have both) and her workshops!

I want to know if you could tell me which workshop (the name) you took? She is offering Atmospheric Watercolors and More Than Watercolor and I wanted to know the difference. I’ve been painting for years-I have all 3 of her DVD’s and both her books so I’m familiar with her work. Can you give me any insight?

I can tell you that jean is an amazing teacher and gives you so much info and instruction and is just a great person to learn from, I would pay for and take any of her workshops. The entire class was satisfied, had a great time and learned a lot. Atmospheric watercolors is her new book, I am not sure what the difference is class wise but I assure you, you wont be disappointed!
